The Humboldt Range: 19th Century Mining Camps  by Alan H. Patera
Western Places Volume 4-2

This book explores the several mining camps of the Humboldt Range of northwestern Nevada, the first big rush after the Comstock (including Unionville, Humboldt City, and Star City).  Unionville became the county seat of Humboldt County, with a Wells Fargo office and many businesses, including a brewery.  Among the many temporary inhabitants was young Samuel Clemens.  Star City, supported by the rich pockets of the Sheba mine, was a stage terminus and had an office for the transcontinental telegraph.

Today there are rock ruins up nearly every canyon, and Unionville alone is worth a visit.

Paperback, 88 pages, 8.5 x 11 inches. This book contains numerous photographs, both 19th century ones and others taken recently.  Includes index of people and businesses.
